Deferral Reversal Plan: Did it work for you?

Let’s see how many of the ID deferrals on CC made it in RD. It might help those who want to become future owls.

So I’ll start first: I got deferred ID but was accepted RD.

I sent 3 items after getting deferred (by the way, I followed the “deferral reversal plan” someone posted in this forum; whoever it was, thanks for the great advice!)

a letter expressing my continued interest in Rice and why I should be accepted.

a rec from my employer (she liked me a lot)

official transcript from a community college from where I took a class.

I can post my stats, but I don’t think it’ll help since it’s not like my stats changed in the RD round.

For the WLs: I believe you can apply the similar procedure to get off the waitlist. Though your status depends on the yield by May1st, it’ll make the admission people to reconsider you. Good luck!

I did too.

Sent in a one page letter explaining why I like Rice, how it's my first choice school and should I get in, I'm definitely attending, and an update on what I've been doing extracurricular-wise. I also sent in an additional recommendation from my art teacher who absolutely adores me and wrote an amazing rec.

Why send recs when it said not to? Well, if it worked for you two, congrats.

I sent in an updated transcript, a letter expressing my interest, and an update on extracurriculars. I also noted that, since submitting my original application, I singlehandedly raised a couple hundred bucks for a charity, and that I've arranged to aid in research at the Texas Medical Center over the summer.

After the deferral, I got waitlisted.
