On the UPenn forum, the deferred kids are very proactive. It seems like they all are calling the admission officer to see what they can better about their application to improve their chances.

Is it not so big here because UPenn is ED while Yale is EA?

What you guys planning on doing w/ deferrals??

On a similar note--do you need to re-submit your app or a new essay or whatever by Jan 1? Please say no...

Actually, I'm going to do all that after Jan 1. There's just too much to do before that date. And they can't give us a reply until April anyway. Also, best not to bug them too often. So, maybe give them a call now and in February, you can send all your additional stuff to them. I'm doing that because it will coincide with the release of my A level results

On that note...I wasn't given an admissions interview the first time around, but when my friend's counselor called the admissions office, they said the only advice they had was to get an admissions interview. I totally tried to get one the first time. How do they expect us to find someone to interview us when the regional admissions officer doesn't believe that my school is covered by an interview committee, or whatever she called it?

Anyone have any idea how the ea break down in terms of legacy, urm, recruited athlete (well, I guess those are all in the ea right?)
Would it be reasonable to assume most legacies apply early?
How does Yale look at the rd applications from Harvard acceptees? Does it know?
anyone out there?

Hmm...I e-mailed my regional rep, but he wasn't of much help. He simply said we could send in our supplementary material by early February. Besides that, I wasn't told why I got deferred. From the UPenn board, I think Penn regional reps. were more helpful.

Can we just call the Admissions Office and ask to speak to my rep? I've emailed him in the past and he's rarely responded, so I have my doubts about being able to reach him by phone..

i asked my school counselor, and she said that i don't have to do anything, but i highly doubt her since she hasn't really helped in the past.
anyone sending more supplementary material? is it ok to be sent in even after RD deadline?
Should i write a letter, or have my counselor write one?
how many deferees on this forum are honestly just gonna sit and do nothing?

my english teacher suggested that I get someone from my music background to call the music person at yale. When she was in college, she was a live-in babysitter for the dean of admissions, so I take her advice seriously. And it helps that I play for a conductor who's won an international conducting prize at the age of 26. I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but it's worth a shot I guess.
