holy ****. you got rejected? wow...

My other safeties were WashU and Madison, so Duke was, for me, a safety/middle school

I can see madison, but both washu and duke have proved just about as difficult (and random) as anywhere else this year. where do you go to school? I'm from milw, go to rufus king

deferred and rejected too

prolly shoulda done more to get it reversed... all i did was fax 'em a press release about this pretty big award i won a couple weeks ago... but i didn't get it to them until march 29th haha

congrats y'all who got in... i'm sure you deserve it :)

I'm from Brookfield East. And yes, there were definite unpredictable swings in WashU and Duke, but I guess I just really expected to be accepted to Duke. It didn't help that my best friend also applied and she has the same stats as me, goes to my school, is also Asian, is a girl too, and shares many of my extracurriculars. I have a feeling it was basically a toss-up between us, but they could only accept one as it was.

Yeah I viewed Duke as a match/safety too considering my stats are above average and I am from SC.

Harvard admission on the other hand is truly just a crapshoot.

Um, what does being from SC have anything to do with having a better shot at Duke...?

Duke accepts 40% of the applicants from SC and NC. It is in their bylaws. So it appears I am not as innate as you make me out to be.....

I hate to keep bumping an old thread, but I've never heard of that. Do you have a link?

Any Thoughts?

i'm screwed!

I got deferred and I am an international-asian student. Well I guess because my SAT score is pretty low 570 for crit and 690 for Writing..and I have taken the SAT three times... so would u guys suggest me to take the SAT again?

I just wonder when is the deadline for turning extra material in for deferred students

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that they rewrote their essays. Do you just mail Harvard your new essays with a nice note asking them to ignore the old ones? Also, would it be beneficial to get back in contact with your interviewer and kind of force her to have a second interview? Any other deferral reversal strategies?

????????????

I was deferred and then pulled my application in favor of a different school. So I never got rejected or accepted.
