I don't think the people who got deferred (like me) should worry too much. My friends from my school all got deferred last year and all ended up getting accepted.

thats interesting. I was under the impression that Mich didnt reject anyone is early response and Deferrals were essientally rejections, only with a better name.

No one gets rejected during ER, only deferred. And it’s NOT an outright rejection by any means. But to say “don’t worry” is just foolish. There are plenty of smart people with excellent stats who end up getting rejected after getting deferred. I mean, keep your hopes up, of course, but don’t woo yourself into a false sense of security.

so. much. contradictory. information. augnmyamsaduihyc.

i guess we should all be hoping for a really crappy regular pool, then! :)

& can any one confirm that UM doesn’t out-right reject in ER?? i thought for sure they did…

you keep thinking they reject outright, theycallmecee, but they do not.

^yes, i know. which is why i asked.

so if it’s true that they don’t, then all deferrals couldn’t possibly be accepted, in the end…

…duh. that’s why everyone is soooooo worried about getting a deferral because you have a huge chance of getting rejected.

lol, i stated it because it’s the opposite of what the OP is saying. like i said before, all of it is contrary information.

My friend got deferred last year, then waitlisted, then never heard anything from them again. Ouch. >.<

^that is ouch D:

okay, so i just realized that u could be WAIT-LISTED after being deferred…omg.

i also just read this:

‘The latest you will receive a final decision of admit, deny, or waitlist will be mid-April. If you are not admitted at that time, but are given the opportunity to be on an extended waitlist, a decision may be made as late as mid-summer after we have received all of the enrollment deposits from admitted students.’

so they might keep u on the wait-list until summer? wth…

If you get deferred and don’t get accepted the next time they send you a ruling on your app I would probably let it go. Starting college is busy enough without that kind of uncertainty so late in the game.
