Deferral Woes

Hello,

I got deferred from Yale EA. I don’t know quite what to feel about that.

What does it really mean for my chances RD at Yale?

And based on my deferral what are my chances at the following:

Cornell
Dartmouth
Harvard
Johns Hopkins

My stats are kinda:

ACT 34
SAT II: 790. 780, 740
Grades: 96% (Full IB), 1 out of 100
EC’s: Lot’s of humanitarian stuff…KINDA my hook
No alumni stuff

Whaddya think?

Based on your deferral, we know absolutely nothing.

Where's your safety? That's the only one that matters - the rest is just gravy.

Chances at Yale after deferral--not out of the range of possibility, but out of the range of probability.

Chances at your other schools--Yale deferral means nothing. My D last year was rejected by Yale EA and accepted by Harvard RD. Don't lose your confidence. If you have a good app, I'm betting at least ONE of those schools will accept you come spring. The problem? we can't tell you which one it will be at this time!

I predict all of them except Yale and Harvard which noone can ever predict for anyone. You will have great choices and I have a gut feeling you will only have one denial. Please let us know and best of luck,

I second mini - where's your safety school?

Please don't tell us Harvard is your safety school. . .

It's not ;) ....I didn't list them but they include:

MSU
UMKC

and some others....I already got accepted to MSU (with 40 grand!- merit) I'm just waiting and nervous about these 4.

So, is it advisable to send in supplementary materials to Yale after this deferral? Like another essay, updated extracurriculars, a call from the counselor....
