Hi!

I've been trying to find statistical facts about the number of deferrals in the ED and ID rounds, but so far I've come up empty-handed. Percentage-wise, it seems that ED and ID accept the same number of percent of students from the application pool, but I'm wondering that, out of those who are not accepted from either of the round, are the majority rejected or deferred? Or do these statistics differ in both rounds?

I'm under the impression that of those who aren't accepted ED, most are rejected, and of those who aren't accepted ID, most are deferred to RD round. Is this true? Or is it just a figment of my imagination that I've taken as fact?

Rice is my absolute first choice, and I really want to go there. I have planned to apply ED this upcoming year for a while now, but if the above is true (which I'm not sure if it is), then would it be better if I apply ID? I know some people dislike deferrals because it prolongs the bad news, stressing the students out further. However, I'd like to have as much chance as I could.

Thank you!
