deferrals

has anybody established whether the 7th semester grades letter or deferral letter is better yet?? (perhaps based on acceptances??)

i had the same question, so i called the admissions office atleast 5 times asking the exact same question over and over.

a couple of times they said they couldnt reveal that sort of info. one time they said that theres not really much difference.

but one guy pretty firmly said that just getting flat out deferred was better than the letter asking for 7th semester grades. he also said that most of the people who arent specifically asked for their fall grades, dont send them in. i hope this guys right...

i hope he's right as well!!! i got the one not asking for midyear grades but i sent them anyways as i saw improvements.... when is our final decision coming out..... no news at all and i hate waiting this long!!!!!

we should hear back by mid april....i wouldnt really expect them any sooner than april though (based on last year).
only students who sent in their mid-year reports were notified earlier (if they did well).

its odd bc i saw 2 threads so far with ppl who got 7th semester grades saying htey got in but nobody who got deferred got in yet

I applied to Michigan in fall '07, and was deferred at the end of November. I did really well first, second, and third quarters, and voluntarily sent my grades in. I was then accepted in early April. There's hope for everyone!

I got deferred, and they asked me for my 7th semester grades, but I got accepted about 2 weeks ago, I always keep my grades pretty constant

Hi All,
I'm still deferred with 29 ACT and 4.0
I received the letter that asked for 7th semester grades and I had all A's. Called the counsellor and was told I should have taken more than 2 AP's...I have tons of community/work, very involved at school and 2 Varsity sports, ugh.
Is this common?
What are the chances that I'll still hear back? I'm starting to lose hope.
