Deferred Admission After Withdrawn Application

Withdrew Binghampton app after accepted ED somewhere else just as good. I checked the system, it said withdrawn.

Today I got a letter saying that although not admitted for the fall due to the record number of apps, was accepted for deferred admission to Spring of 2008. Also, if sending in the card and a deposit will cause to be put on a waiting list for fall.

On the one hand, I am kind of irked that this is kind of a rejection letter because I don't think the EA would have been a reject or deferral if not withdrawn, given the caliber of the other school accepted to.

Do you think that they send these out to students who would have accepted but withdrew so that if the student ends up hating the other college, they can still bring them into Binghamton? It's kind of a nice guaranteed "way out" to another good school if the ED one doesn't work out, without violating the agreement.

Anyone else get this?

Hi. I think you can accept this at face value. You can't judge any school by any other.

Congrats on a satisfactory outcome.

alot of kids at school got this, and I would say it was an oversite. None of the kids were ED anywhere else. Agree with the above poster.
