Deferred Admission for Spring Transfers?

Is this allowed? If I were to be accepted for this Spring semester, could I possibly (if it indeed becomes necessary) defer my admission until the next fall?

No, not if you are a regular transfer applicant as opposed to a ‘guaranteed transfer’ (which is state-assisted schools only.)

At least for me, I was accepted for fall, but they wouldn’t allow me to defer it to spring at CALS (idk where you’re applying, but there’s a chance it might be different.)

So I’m stuck reapplying for this spring :P

well that totally sucks!

Haha, believe me, I know! It’s like I’m going through the whole worrying process again, but this time there’s less time. >_<

Where state are you from/ are you at a four year or a two year?

New York, currently at a two-year school. Though I sure hope they wouldn’t base a student’s deference on where they currently attend.

Either way, I’m very confident for re acceptance. I’d definitely just go in spring, if I were you, even if you might have some aid issues, just because there are far less applicants for spring semester.

What school/major are you applying to?

I’m sure you’ll get in
I’m applying to the College of Human Ecology, and I’m from a two year in Southern California. I’m a bit terrified of moving to up state New York in the dead of winter with this incessant flu going around! My winter’s don’t get below fifty degrees!

It’s easy to get used to  sort of…haha. I know a girl who just transferred from Arizona. She asked us if she needed special shoes to go for a run in the snow. One good thing about not getting to go to Cornell until spring, I’m avoiding that massive flu spread.

Well, it’s actually going to get much worse this winter, once we stop receiving vitamin D from the sunlight, and our natural defenses are down. In Brazil for example, is the end of winter right now, their H1N1 cases have killed much more. Not to mention the possibility of mutations. Good stuff

Hmm, it has been done…I know a loophole. :p

Yeah, but I heard the vaccine is going to be issued this November? Although I have no clue on the details. Knocking on wood here, but I haven’t been sick in over five years now (other than seasonal colds.)

Do you, Docility? (Referring to the topic of this thread I assume.)

Mmmhmm, I sure do. I don’t know if this will work for everyone, but last year a girl in my statistics class told me that she requested a leave-of-absence for “personal reasons” the semester she was supposed to transfer to Cornell. Her leave-of-absence was approved, and her counselor even told her via e-mail that if she needed to extend it for the next semester she was entitled to do so. I think she was in the College of Human Ecology…not sure though. The policies most likely vary from college to college.

thanks for the information!

No problem! :)

That might only work if she actually wasn’t attending school the semester she took leave, which would put her way behind if she went through with that. But still, I suppose if it comes to it and you can’t go it’s something to consider.

<-----did it. I was supposed to start last spring, but ended up starting this fall. I’m not a GT.
