Deferred...any shot now?

<p>I found out that I was deferred yesterday...Pretty upset since michigan is one of, if not, my top choice. Just wondering if I have any shot now.</p>

<p>Umich GPA: 3.7 before mid-year, 3.76 after mid-year
ACT: 28 w/ 11 on writing
ECs: Excellent
Recs: Teacher is unbelievable (i showed my college couns and she said that), counselor i dont know about
Applied LSA, Geology (have performed in the field, submitted my abstract)</p>

<p>I was thinking of maybe writing a really personal letter about how my interest in michigan grew, and telling them that if they give me the oppurtunity, then I will take full advantage.</p>

<p>Any thoughts, input would be greatly appreciated!</p>

<p>Just wondering if you got a letter or found out on wolverine access? How long ago did you apply? Definitely send them your first semester grades and I would write something if I was you. They might not take it into consideration, but I think it can only help you.</p>

<p>My app. was complete on 11/08, even though my app. was sent 9/11. I received a letter in the mail, and nothing appeared on wolverine access. Anyone else have input?</p>

<p>You have a shot, but you need to look at other schools too.</p>

<p>A couple of posters here have said they were accepted within weeks of being deferred. If you are asking about "your chances", well, who knows.</p>

<p>When I was deferred I didn't have a third link. I only got a mailed letter saying I was deferred, then when I was accepted a third link showed up saying I was accepted :)</p>

<p>I suggest keep sending UMich stuff. For example, mid-year report (so do good), new ECs/leadership position. You could consider getting a part-time job or an internship, those would both help ur ECs.</p>

<p>Thanks for the input zKevin...I am definitely going to take your advice and send them extra ECs I have (semi-finalist in coca-cola scholarship, SCA internship), also, what do you think of sending them a supplementary essay showing my interest in the school?</p>

<p>Are you oos? I think you should just send senior grades and maybe and email of how you really are still interested in Michigan and maybe send some information on any awards youve gotten since you applied.</p>
