Deferred Applicants 2022

Thought I would make a thread for us “deferreds” to discuss and console one another during the coming months of waiting once again to hear a decision from the University of Notre Dame.

So glad someone made this thread! It’s going to be a tough 3 months but I will be praying for everyone that is in our situation! By the way, I was deferred with around a 4.0 and a 35 ACT. So happy to still be considered for a spot at ND and hopefully I can get lucky in the RD round!

@turntwo - 4.0 unweighted on a 4.0 scale? If so, do you have many AP classes? What is your class rank? Good luck!

@Windows16 sorry for not specifying, my 4.0 is weighted, my unweighted gpa is 3.943. I’ve taken 5 APs which is the most my school offers. My school also does not rank, all I know is that I am in the top 15%. 6 kids from my school were accepted REA, all with slightly higher GPAs than mine. My guidance counselor believes it may be to my advantage that I will not be compared to as many students from my school in the RD round; however, I have never read where that would be the case. Thanks for your input!!

Communicate with your regional admissions counselor; ask him/her what you can do to help your situation. Express your continued strong interest in the school.

I was deferred last year and what I did was I wrote a letter which would be attached to my file detailing my continued belief that Notre Dame was the school for me, and that I would 100% go if accepted. I took a while, but I was eventually admitted off of the waitlist on May 12. Don’t lose faith.
