Deferred Applicants: what have you done?

So I was deferred EA and my guidance counselor gave me advice to send in extra material. Have you guys done anything to your application since your deferral?

Sent in 7th semester transcripts and shot an email to my regional admissions counselor telling a little bit about why I deserve to be in the class of 2016.

Sent in 7th semester transcripts, and got another letter of rec from my bio honors teacher who taught as a professor at U of c a little while back. I figured by applying early that stated my intent more so than any additional letter I could write.

Emailed my regional counselor about 30 minutes after I was deferred telling her that chicago was still my first choice. Sent in an updated activity resume and mid-year grades. Oh, and of course start freaking out because decisions are only 4 days away.

I did pretty much the same as above, sending in mid-year grades (which I hope made a difference, as I was really proud of my semester work) and an email to my regional counselor with a reiteration of why UChicago was right for me.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have any updates award or activity wise, although I did have a really successful interview in between my deferral and the time for submitting new info. I don’t even know if they considered the interview report, but I can hope!

I emailed my regional counselor and told her that UChicago is still my first choice, sent my mid-year transcript (which I’m pretty proud of), submitted some extra creative writing documents, and turned in an award/activities update. I also had an interview, which I think went pretty well. God, I really hope that those things had some kind of effect. I want to get in so badly.

Meep. I sent in my first semester transcript, had an alumni interview, wrote a letter to my regional counselor(I spent like 3 days writing and rewriting it D: ), and sent in an extra recommendation written only for UChicago. Also, my school counselor sent in a letter with my transcript. Oh, and I updated my regional counselor on a few things like NMF and what have you. When it’s all written out, it seems like it might be overkill, but… at least I can know that I did everything I could! And passion is a good thing, right…!? Good luck on to everyone! ^_^

My son did not do anything other than send his mid year grades. He was pretty disapointed that he took the time to get his application in early but that U Chicago was not willing to give him a straight up answer whether that answer is yes or no.
