Yup, at least there’s still some hope of Penn 2017. Never give up.

i got deferred… and Im actually a bit worried since my grades have gone down. can someone tell me if Upenn or other ivys will frown upon my midyear grades? my history is this: 0 APs but many honor freshmen year with 2 B’s (rest A’s), 2 B’s 10th grade with 1 AP (rest A’s), 1 B Junior year with 3 AP’s (rest A’s), BUT senior year: 4B’s and 3A’s with 5 APs. will colleges frown upon this? or will they consider that I am taking 5 AP classes

i think emailing 2-3 times a month is excessive and will annoy admissions, honestly. i got in RD (didn’t apply ED anywhere) last year and in mid february i sent penn and my other schools an “updates” list, where i essentially told them (in a resume format) all of the things i had accomplished since the time i had handed in my application. so, for all ed applicants, you’ll be citing things you have accomplished from november 1st (or earlier, depending on when you handed in your app) until mid to late february. provide a cover letter when faxing/mailing/emailing this in, explaining the reason and contents of the packet. finally, in the cover letter, remind them that you applied early decision (which they’ll already know, but it doesn’t hurt to say), penn is still your number one choice, and, if accepted, you will attend.

i did this and got into many of my top choices, and i definitely think this boosted my chances of being admitted.

@eduard97 yes, they will definitely frown upon ur poor grades. It will hurt you very very badly actually, imo, because the only “main updates” penn will get from u is the mid year report. And mostly, the other deferred applicants will receive A’s on their mid year report. imo, if your grades become worse, you will have a slimmer chance of getting in. Also, I heard that ivys want you to take hard courses AND get good grades there, to prove yourself able for their school environment. So you want to get straight A’s
