I was deferred at GT with 33 ACT, 3.9 unweighted, 4.4 weighted gpa and in a lot of ap classes. I’m in sports and clubs as well, any idea of what my chance is getting in at the reg decision date? Thanks.
Hmmmm. Those are above average stats for Georgia tech. How do you think your common app and Georgia tech essays were? If you thought they were good I think you’ll get in regular. But more information is needed than just gpa and act from you to accurately chance you! But good luck!
Thanks for the advice. I thought my essays were decent, maybe they just want more in state students. I’m pretty strong in math and science too which is what I thought they would look for. Idk hopefully I’ll get in on reg decision.
Someone else with slightly higher stats also just asked on CC why they got deferred. Sounds like GT had a really competitive EA pool this year.
It can be very frustrating when you know you have the stats to get in. Chances are strong you will get in with the RD. It’s true that it seems random, but I’m wondering if GT (like some of the other highly selective schools) is just trying to create a more diverse community in terms of experiences and interests. You mention you’re in sports and clubs…does your essay indicate a passion in any extra curricular activity or topic?
33 ACT was 50% this year. If you’re IS, you’ll probably get in regular. If OOS, it depends on strength of ECs. Go to the EA results page and compare yourself with people who got in on there. If your ECs can match those, you’ll be in good shape.
