Deferred Cals, now how does rolling decision in Feb. work?

I was deferred and Cals says they do rolling decision starting in Feb. How does this work? Do they put all us deferrals in the first pool? Will we know then or have to wait until April? Why do they do rolling when they already have everyone's apps. now? Are they just trying to torture us?

They want to review your application with the others in the same major from the regular decision pool. You might find out before the Common Ivy Date, you might not. It somewhat depends on what major and how many other applicants they have for that major.

Do they do rolling admissions for all colleges or only certain ones? I was deferred from Humec and was under the impression that I would have to wait until mid-april.

Do they really compare you major by major? That almost sounds like a quota system.

Of course they compare you major by major. They aren't going to compare the DEA kids to the HBHS kids, or the Comm kids with the Biochem kids. It's not a strict quota system, but at the end of the day there are only so many slots in any given academic major.
