ummm.....i was deferred from cals and got a 3.5 UW, 4.1 W with ap physcis, ap stat, ap gov, ap spanish, geology, and english....... and they want to see strong grades :/ how much does it hurt me ya think? also, i just got a 780 math 1c in january compared to my 700 2c (for bioengineering major)...so hmmmmm...opinions?

I'm worried about my mid-year report too..

you already know the answer to this. I know you want everyone to say don't worry, but of course you have something to worry about. The only people who don't have to worry about grades or scores are the 4.0 w/ AP everything and the 1600/800/800/800 kids. Nobody on here is a cornell adcom, so i don't believe anbody will know how much it hurts to have either not strong grades or grades with a declining trend. (I'm not saying yours are either of these.)

Forget about your weighted GPA; Cornell doesn't care what your weighted score is. That weighting is recognized in the proverbial points you'll get for taking all those AP classes. Your unweighted GPA is what counts.

I guess what I'm saying is you might get a story from someone who had a similar situation to yours last year and either got accepted or rejected after being deferred. But that is just one story, not a statistic on how a 3.5 w/ X number of AP classes will affect you. Also, it's ambiguous whether those stats are your overall HS stats or Sr. year stats.

It's 2nd semester now. With stats like the ones you listed, you're bound to get into an excellent college and recieve an impeccable education, even if that college and education is not at Cornell. This I am saying confidently. And for real, stop worrying, Cornell is/was a dream school for many of us, but until I had to withdraw my apps to other schools after getting accepted to CU ED this past fall, I didn't realize how much I liked all those other schools I applied to. Best of luck to you.
