Recomendations from Bio Math and PhD from Cornell- all as far as I know glowing.
I understand SAT's are very low for Cornell but was only deferred? Hope?
My new scores are:
M-610
CR-680
W-590
Super-Score- 1290/1920
Cornell didn't have these scores during review before decision to defer! Any advice would be amazing!
Cornell is the ONLY SCHOOL I want to attend although have applied to safety schools.

bumper…

It took forever to write this thread!!! Please give me a few minutes and chance me :stuck_out_tongue: thanks

I would say your ECs and subjective aspect are pretty good. But I can’t really comment on those lower-end SATs. It seems that you may be overshadowed by other applicants in the RD pool that have substantially higher scores. Not to mention that they could also have impressive ECs and subjective components as well. I’d say retake again if you can, but otherwise just polish up all that you can and hope for the best.

Yea, I agree…deff going to retake in jan! Really going to crackdown and beast out the math and then hopefully??? lol please keep chancing.

it’s not about the grades
it’s not about how many awards you won
it’s not about chances

tell Cornell why you want to study there (not why or how much you love Cornell)
tell Cornell how it will help you in your future endeavors
tell Cornell what you’re passionate about

good luck

THANK YOU! But now that i was deferred and my application was already foreworded to regular decision…how do i show Cornell that!?

you can write them a letter and send it to the admissions office
then call them to see if they’ve received it

Any more chances? A letter just telling them how I am passionate?

it looks like its just your SAT score that’s holding you back right now. study hard and try to raise that number. good luck!

Yup! Decided last night that i have to take them again in January  That test sucks but i know if i crackdown ill raise the math at least 50 which would be good i think? Not really sure why they deferred me rather than reject?

bumper…bumpidy bump bump :)

Someone got a 1790 on the SAT and got accepted into Cornell, so it’s OBVIOUSLY not about how high you scores are. I don’t understand why everyone on this board thinks that. But I would say your EC’s are very good, and you have a good chance to getting accepted. I hope you do :). I also applied to Cornell, but regular decision. Hope to see you there!

OMG IK!!! I hope with everything I get in! I love Ithaca and Cornell is my dream!

it’s not all about high scores, but they definitely help

i told you on a previous thread, but i’ll say it here again. your sat scores are killing you. if you get 1400+ on math/reading and a 2100+ overall, you’d stand a much better chance.

very doubtful imo

Retake SAT and slo take ACT

SAT isn’t for everyone, but def retake it and send those scores out.
Also, take ACT. Some people are more ACT-friendly and do a lot better. U may be one of these. I’m not sure what a good ACT score for Cornell is (I use SAT) but it’ll most likely be 30+. It is def doable b/c I myself was not an ACT (the test is too damn fast) person, and I got a 32. One of my friends also did horribly on non-math SAT sections but then got a 34 ACT on his 2nd try.

So, take both and say goobye to 2 weekends in order to get into college.

Good luck to ya, and since I applied RD, we may be seeing each other up there soon :)
