Im planning to major Economics and Mathematics if I get into Yale. It has always been my dream school.

well its just fate (even i got deffered)
hope for the best in the RD round
may be ur EC didn
t look that good when compared to others
also i think ur essay topics are very trite
the first one about elections will be written by a million other students so it won
t look different & attractive
send them a new essay and leave the rest to god

You seem like a very strong applicant, so I think you have a high chance RD. Maybe you were only deferred because Yale couldn't tell if you were dedicated to the school. Try writing a letter to the admissions office if Yale is still your top choice to increase your chances.

I was deferred too... I there with ya. Your stats seem pretty strong to me... but then again, so did mine... but if I had to guess, I bet you'll get in RD. Let's just hope that wayyy fewer people apply RD because of the intimidating SCEA pool and the fact that so many already applied early...

Wow... if a Latin American applicant gets deferred with those stats... I'd be surprised if anyone in the region has better stats than you. I think its almost probable that you get in at RD, since I think Yale is looking at the strengh of this year's applicants from the LatAm region.

Your stats actually worry me a lot, since I'm also a LatAm applicant who is an asian.

^Ok here I go (if that was what you meant)
I got deferred from Yale applying early:
Asian male
SAT: 2310 (M-800, CR-760, W-750)
SAT II: Biology-780, Math IIC-800, Chemistry-780
GPA: 4.76 (probably top 3 w/ class size of 410)
AP's - i've taken 6 AP tests and gotten 5's on all of them; taking 4 more as a senior
EC's: Cross Country 9th-12th (varsity in 11th&12th), Math club 9th-12th (secretary 12th grade), several math competition awards (not first place tho), a couple of piano awards, paid job at library, National Merit Semifinalist, volunteer at Feed the Children, a charity organization
Pretty good recs, ok essays (not stellar)
No hooks really; and my only leadership thing was secretary of math club.

Hey guys - I was defered to Yale EA , International Applicant from India & my sister went there too - I had a pretty good midyear report with straight A’s (I had 2 B’s earlier) and also won an award at Harvard Model UN in late January and my school won Best International Del so yeah! I also visited campus in early FEB after HMUN but theres a downside to all this : I gave my Physics SAT in Jan a few days after my exams and completely messed up - got a 740!! but YALE doesnt accept score choice - sort of worried that this would put me at a disadvantage cuz its not a very good score ( I had a 770 in SAT 2 Chem & 780 in Sat 2 MATH 2 earlier which Yale already has) - Let me know what you guys think - cuz i have to send the score anyway. Would love to get your take on my chances after a poor SAT Performance but decent MIDYEAR Developments on the Whole! Thanks!
