I originally was deferred from USF for Fall 2011 because I didn't meet the math requirement. Before I got that decision I had faxed in a reactivation form to change my term to summer but also was deferred for summer for the same reason. I recently got my ACT scores back and I surpassed the minimum by a point but raised my ACT composite from a 21 to a 23 (superscored). What do you think my chances are now for Summer 2011 given that I’ve already been deferred but "fixed" what the "problem" was? Also, according to the "admissions matrix," a 23 would have me "accepted with 2 or more Academic Success Factors" and I have about 5 or 6. My only concern is whether or not my chance of admission is lessened due to the fact that I've already been deferred? Here's a link to the matrix http://usfweb2.usf.edu/Admissions/pdf/counselor-grid.pdf
Other stats:
5.3 GPA
4.0 Dual enrollement GPA
About 150-175 Community service hours
A couple of EC's and leadership positions.

Good job getting your math score up. Make sure USF has your new ACT results, check your Oasis account or phone the USF admissions office to check. Being deferred isn’t going to work against you, you’ve just been in limboland while USF looked for a way to admit you–getting higher test score could do it. You’re not out 'til you’re out; you maybe had two strikes with previous deferrals–the new test results could be the big hit you needed that gets you admitted to USF. Good Luck!

Thanks ! I actually did improve my math score by a lot ( which is embarrassing to admit) lol . But yeah I hope I don’t have 2 strikes on me .I guess I just figured I’d have a better chance for summer term. I think i’ll send in a letter of recommendation also because my “deference letter” said they would be acceptable.
Ohh & do you know how long it usually takes for them to receive the scores ? UCF put mine in early (on Monday or Tuesday) and I got mine in the mail on Saturday but they “officially” came out today although my Oasis isn’t updated yet.
Thanksss & Fingers Crossed

Same thing happened to my friend. I read on here that someone called and they said that’s their polite way of saying no, but then I also read that someone called and they said that’s their way of surprising the applicant. Guess we will see soon huh?

Whoever called talked to an admissions officer who didn’t want to deliver bad news over the phone. I am the person who you refereed to as the one who said that the “rendered” message was “their polite way of saying no”. My parents discussed this with an admissions officer months ago, when my application wasn’t a factor, so there was no reason for them to make anything up.

I’m sorry for your friend asadshaikh27, but he didn’t get in. USF has other online messages for being accepted and deferred.
