Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmpppppppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!

I think it's the GPA. I was denied from Wharton w/ similar scores and a slightly higher GPA. A place like Cornell wants to see that you love learning and are using your potential...I think they're waiting for solid midyear grades to confirm that that's what you're all about. Good grades this semester, as the one deferred & rejected from Penn said, is no guarantee. But I think that is primarily what they are looking for as everything else seems strong.

thanx stambliark. I'm currently working my A** off to get straight A's my second quarter to make my midyear look decent.

I got deferred from CU as well, i had higher GPA (4 uw), pretty much the same SAT and 3 800s for SAT IIs, 3 yrs internship at NIH doing synthetic bio research… id say that it’s a pretty random process, but dont give up though. Just a tip, all our deferred apps are at the buttom of the pile now… meaning that our chances are even lower than the normal kids. I think bring up that C wont help that much, write something to them, and get more recs from famous people.

your question regarding other chances: MIT, Princeton probably not; Hopkins, UMD, CMU, Brown, Columbia yes!

in at rutgers, tcnj, umd.
i think your uw gpa and not that many leadership roles in clubs are the only things that are working against you for the top schools.
but i still think that you definitely have a good shot at carnegie mellon, johns hopkins, and cornell (if they deferred you, they obviously saw something in you)
princeton, mit, brown, columbia are tough calls because they’re so random but your sats and awards will help you out a lot.
good luck!

college admission is random… u never know how they select ppl
ppl at my high school got in in Early weren’t amazing.

Wow..thats crazyy! Seriously, I think college admissions people just randomly pick names out of a hat. Haha apply everywhere! who knows these dayss..
