Deferred College of Emgineering

Anyone else in the same boat? Curious to see stats

ACT 33
GPA 4.3 w

My son was also deferred. He probably should have said he would go for a less competitive major, but Engineering was all he really wanted at NC State. We are in state.

SAT 1440 (740 math, 700 reading/writing)
GPA UW 3.85
Full course load of AP Classes Junior and Senior year.

Good luck to you!

@wakectyregret @NodakWonder did you take Calculus B/C either junior or senior? what about taking physics?

He took AP Calc senior year and Physics sophomore year, I believe.

if students are interested in engineering it helps to take Calc (especially B/C) as junior and ideally calc based physics. When students have taken neither calc nor physics before senior year that is something that makes it more challenging to get in

My son was deferred:
29 ACT, 1320 SAT, in state. Will finish with seven APs including AP Comp sci A (java) and AB Calculus. He should have taken AB/BC, but oh well here we are.
He has changed his 1st and 2nd choices, one of which is Marine Sciences. Is that a tough school to get in, does anyone know?

Took BC calc (5) junior year and AP physics this year. Funny thing is Clemson came through with an out of state scholarship and acceptance into the engineering school but NC STate was a deferral. Really upset about that.
