My daughter applied EA - was deferred, UGA is her top choice Devastated if she doesn’t get in . She has 4.13 GPA - 8 APs, 5 Honors, 2 DE, varsity athlete honor roll, volunteers - overall a good student but her ACT scores are low 27. Looking for any insight on her chances, 9400 kids admitted, typically they take 12000…appreciate any feedback, we are OOS in DC area.
Replied to your post on the other thread - good luck
Hi, I am a senior at a prep school in north Georgia. It is my understanding that this year many colleges have become shockingly more selective. My school normally sends about half of our ~60 graduating students to UGA and this year only 8-10 of us got in EA and the rest got deffered to RD even with many APs, extracurriculars, etc. It is very common as the university is becoming more selective every year. It sounds like she has a great record, much better than mine, so I hope she gets in this weekend! Good luck!
@HopingforUGA: State residency is not a factor used by UGA. (Georgia Tech, however, does consider residency as a factor in admission decisions.
Thank you!!
Good luck to you @Babydawg2023 !! I hope you both get into UGA!!
is anyone who was Deferred or RD receiving emails about scholarships?
Good luck to all - first time visit to Athens for our daughter in November after getting admitted EA was a little less than 5 hours so basically just had time for lunch (not downtown) and the campus tour squeezed in on our way to Clemson; but she liked it so much it shot up her list of schools as she waited for other decisions.
Fast forward to last weekend where we spent a couple days exploring the school and downtown Athens and she absolutely loved it; so much so that she’s now asking us daily if we can put a deposit down even though she’s waiting on decisions from schools that were originally top of her list.
The school’s beautiful, students and staff were incredibly welcoming (she met some freshmen there online who had offered to show her the dorms during her visit and the dorm visit quickly evolved into a full night out with dinner and parties - she even saw Kirby Smart at the restaurant) and we learned that a modified Double Dawg can earn a law degree in 6 years (BIG plus for her).
For those who haven’t visited, UGA & the city of Athens are incredible!
Wishing everyone the best of luck!
