hmmm… if they don’t get interviews, how does that work? lol

I’ve been doing more art, organized a couple competitions/service projects, and sent another rec.

From what I heard, if you are selected as a Regents scholar, it just shows up with your decision online.

If you live in California, and don’t get Regents, don’t lose hope for MIT.
I had a friend who got rejected from UCLA, but is now at MIT!
The UCs are just too unpredictable.

@ heinochus

Regional can have a variety of meanings. I was in a “Regional” comp that meant the western region of the US and we competed against other states. I’ve been to Regional Science bowls which only encompass a few counties. So the meaning has not fixed definition.

Thanks, djokovic. My region encompassed about ~7mil people, so I think it’s solidly in the middle of the definition of region, population-wise.

To bolster up my application after deferral I enrolled in 2 math classes at UCSD and told MIT about my A in multivariable.
And the robotics team I started this year won awards at the 2 competitions we went to and right now we just finished a remodeling of our robot and we’re competing in colorado this weekend so I’m hoping to win there and make it to the international competition.

I think you should all still hope. at least you weren’t rejected and still stand a chance with us. i don’t have much chance but hope for a miracle maybe. if you don’t get in, try transfers some day or sth. good luck to everyone

Seems like everybody did some form of elaborate update for MIT, making me wonder if those materials sent would even be looked at with very much thought.

Nevertheless I updated my win at a Regional Science Bowl 1st place for the 2nd consecutive year (goin to Nat’ls), my generous Merit scholarship I received from a foundation, Nat’l Merit Finalist status, and my FIRST Robotics victories at the San Deigo Regional (team 17171!!!)

Gud luk ya’ll

lol sounds like your in…

I’d never even heard of these competitions from where I’m from until I started looking at the MIT boards AFTER I applied lol

ha in a world where good things happen to me, sure. lolz :)

Wow, you butchered every word in that sentence

Which probably means you’re a good match for MIT!!!

^ouch, that was uncalled for. :)

AHH guys 13% acceptence rate xp this is rediculous lol.

Why I got deferred?: 75 in AP Calc. Brought it up to 83 for q2. Then got a 95 on Midterm. sent that transcrpit during midyear. 3Q grade is a 90 so far

What are my chances? =\

Already got into Georgia Tech and NJIT. How does GIT stack up against MIT in terms of competitiveness?

^I don’t think this is the place to spam post a chance thread.

After ~3 years on CC, I can say with relative conviction that chance threads are pretty much useless. At this level of school, admissions are very unpredictable. Very.

I looked back over Matt’s blog post about deferral and he says that MIT took about 300 deferred last year. Does anyone know how many people were deferred last year? Or this year? I seem to remember 7k but I can’t find the post…

There’s a joke about how you know you’re at the supermarket in Cambridge – everybody in the “10 items or less” line has more than 10 items, because everybody in line is either a Harvard student, in which case they can’t count, or an MIT student, in which case they can’t read. ;)

^ haha, that’s really funny, Mollie :D

^^Do you have any more Cambridge jokes for us? We need some comic relief when we’re within 48 hours of judgement day. :D

Everyone should volunteer tomorrow for something to take their mind off the wait. I’m going to “Clean the World” tomorrow morning.

Betting money that Djokovic gets accepted.

Wow I just found out RD is in two days.

Hopefully I don’t get waitlisted or something ridiculous . . . don’t want to be in limbo again :
