Deferred (Early Action) from Pepperdine University

I’m really confused as to why I got deferred from Pepperdine University. I have strong EC’s/am in the top 9% of all HS students in CA, and have a good standing compared to others admitted to Pepperdine from my school (Naviance creates a scattergram based on all applicants for a certain school and everyone with my stats has been accepted in the past). I have a 4.26 weighted/3.72 unweighted, and got a 28 on the ACT. Can someone explain why I was deferred to RD? Is it likely that I will be admitted under RD?

@ruthie3546 My son was deferred from Early Action as well. He has 1420 SAT lots of AP classes and weighted GPA 4.0 /Unweighted 3.5 and was deferrred to reg decision as well. When we toured, I believe they did mention they didn’t look at weightedgpa, just unweighted gpa. Perhaps that is why the deferred to reg decision. I wish you all the best on your reg decision acceptance

Are you religious/how were your essays? Pepperdine cares a lot more about character tan test scores and GPA (within reason).

I believe that one to two of my questions had to do with my religious (Jewish) background. Do you think the school places a strong emphasis on religious background?
