Deferred Early Action

here are my SAT scores :

CR: 510
Math: 500
Writing: 580

I think you should take ur SATs again and send them to jmu. Increase ur score will give u a better chance and help ur 3.0.

Ugh i need to wait till April too the suspense is too much! But I think you have a really good chance getting in regular decision

heyyou1234, were you deferred as well? I looke at your stats, I think you have an excellent chance. I am so nervous for April!! ahh!

nahh i wasn’t i did RD…but thank you i hope the admissions committee thinks so too hahah  and i know april seems so far away but don’t worry cause RD is supposed to be less competitive. so you have a better chance. your scores are definitely in the range and i think if you get the chance to go and talk with an admissions counselor you definitely should. it will show them that you’re the type of student they want

FYI … my daughter got in early action - here were her stats

GPA - 4.09 (weighted)
SAT - R - 610 M- 650 W- 740(not that any schools care)

She took 7 APs - including the 4 she is taking this year - received 4s on the first 3 exams

Lots of the regular EC - Honor societies, etc - including being an officer in these at least 4 times, tons of community service, theater, choir etc

*** she was deferred ED at William and Mary ***

I hope this information helps

I was also differed. I have a 3.5 GPA, 1600 SAT (1110 2-Score) and some Honors classes no AP’s though. Tons of EC: 4 Years of Soccer and Baseball, NHS, Ski Club and tons of community service with the JCC. I’m out of state and I’m pretty nervous also, JMU is my number 1 choice.

Does writing a letter expressing that JMU is your number 1 choice really help your chances?

JMU is my son’s #1 pick so he applied EA. Unfortunately, he was also deferred. He doesn’t have a very strong GPA though so I wasn’t surprised. He did have very strong SAT sitting and only took one time. I really, really, REALLY hope he gets in with regular decision so he isn’t disappointed. Only about two weeks left of waiting!

unweighted GPA: 3.58
SAT Math: 730
SAT English: 650
5 AP classes, graduating with advanced degree

Fingers crossed!
