Deferred ED Applicants in the ED Pool- How Does it Work?

Hey everyone, just wondering how deferred applicants are viewed in the RD pool. I know we are viewed in context of the RD pool, but does the fact that we applied ED have any positive bearing on the re-evaluation of our application?

I’m just very nervous- it’s almost exactly a month until decisions come out ;_;

Thanks all!

Not 100% certain, but I’m pretty sure that the fact that you applied ED does not have a positive bearing on the re-evaluation (nor does it have a negative bearing). It’s understandable to be nervous. At this point, there’s nothing you can do now to improve your application, so just relax, be patient, and enjoy your senior year.

I am in the same situation :’(

Same :’( So nervous!!

Deferred ED applicants do have slightly higher acceptance rate than overall RD pool, so best of luck!

It’s not slight. It’s around 1.5 times the acceptance rate of RD applicants

You have a point @ShaunakK98
It is the same as the overall admit rate, but 1.5 times the RD admit rate

Last year, it was 11% vs 7% Deferred vs regular

@ShaunakK98 Sure 11% is 1.5 times 7%. 2% is also 2 fold of 1%. In the grand scheme of things 11% is only slightly higher than 7%.

the point is WE HAVE AN ADVANTAGE OF SOME SORT IN NUMBERS

This is my guess how it works. Your application was assigned a score when it was read during the ED round. They will review your updates and increase/decrease the score. Your final score will be evaluated along with the RD pool.

Again, this is pure guess.
