Got deferred... I was wondering though, is it possible for them to give a final decision before April? Or does everyone who's been deferred get a final decision around the same time?

-sigh- My senior grades have been less than perfect thus far... I'm pretty sure they're not going to help much - my GPA went from a 3.88 to a 3.4 unweighted - the thing is, my grades haven't changed that much - 4 B's and 3 A's, last year was similar. Also, I ended up dropping second semester calculus for independent study precalc. My question is, will it hurt my chances more if I just, um, never get around to sending my transcript, or send my transcript with my lousy GPA?

People at my school have been getting deferred with a 31 ACT and a 3.9UMich GPA, so my guess is that Michigan is going crazy with deferrals right now so they definately do not exceed their admissions load.

Yeah, one of my friends at my school was deferred with almost the exact same stats - but he didn't apply very early.

Everything about Michigan = apply early. I only received a 29 on my ACT, and my extracurriculars weren't spectacular, but I still got in with few worries.

Who's with me that it's almost worse than being rejected - at least then you KNOW and you can deal with it.

I'm pretty sure I've killed my chances if I send my fall transcript - I was originally taking a full credit of calculus, but I ended up dropping it and taking only half a credit... which doesn't look so hot when they advise you that "your fall semester grades can raise you in the deferred applicant pool" or whatever it was that it said. Something like that.

They will have no idea that you dropped AP Calc before you are accepted/rejected because it wont show up on your transscript unless you dropped it prior to first semester grades so don't worry about it.

Not AP - just regular - unfortunately, our calc teacher didn't know that, and had been grading us the entire semester with absolutely NO leniency whatsoever. He thought we were getting college credit for it. We informed him that no, it wasn't even an honors course, and he was suddenly much more open to forgiving us for not simplifying all the way.

It was on my transcript when I sent it the first time - it had all of my senior year classes and the number of credits - just not the grades, as they hadn't come in yet. I have half a credit of calc now, instead of a full credit - I only dropped second semester calc.

My counselor informed me today that there was a mistake on my transcript, and that I had gotten an A in geometry, not a B. Gee, thanks for finding that a year later, after I've sent my transcript to all the colleges I'm applying to. That's not the only thing wrong with that stupid peice of paper, but I'll spare you the rant.

Now they plan to write some letter saying that there was a mistake, and send it with the transcript.

Dangit, I had thought of a question I wanted to ask, but that was sometime between Biology and American History, and now I can't remember.
