Yeah for me this whole Deferred thing just means that I need a school that knows it needs what I have to offer, Stanford just hasn’t decided if they do yet. And if Stanford thinks they might need me then I’m sure some Ivie’s or other reputable schools will KNOW they need me when they read my application. Just gotta reach the right set of admissions officers :p

I was thinking about it today and we are all in the more selective pool. More people get in than get deferred…

Anyone else think that the deferral numbers don’t add up? Since Stanford accepts 12% and defers 8, we are technically top 20% of the applicants. How can the acceptance rate just be 15% then?! I don’t get it…

i have a question. does anyone know the policy for updating the commonapp essay? i reworked mine for other colleges after being deferred. it’s basically about the same thing but it’s much better and more powerful. would stanford look at it in lieu of the original one i submitted for the regular round?

swirlz this is a reaaallyyy late reply but even though you can create multiple version of the common app (with different essays), stanford won’t accept any other essays other than what you put on that updated activities form that’s due on March 1.
I had the same problem as you, though. I reworked the essay I sent to stanford and tried to find any way possible to get it to them but I couldn’t :/

So hi Deferees. How are you all feeling about Stanford now 2 months after being deferred? Have you moved on? Do you have another love? Any great interviews? Any promising acceptances? I still want to go to Stanford, period. I did get a great acceptance to a match school, and I will be ok going there. My Brown interview was just meh, and I have literally NO idea how Tufts will view my application. UCs (as an out of state applicant) will depend on how the wind blows for out of state money needs. I hope we can keep this thread open and keep in touch through our all eventual acceptances. Oh, by the way, how many of us have a legacy connection? I do, and am interested to hear if a higher percentage of us have legacies or not.

I have my hopes set on Stanford still but I got accepted to the University of Southern California with a potentially generous scholarship. I’m also pretty sure I got into UC Santa Barbara, also, so I’m pretty content with everything right now (: My Harvard interview was eh but I don’t plan on going east coast so it’s no big deal!
No legacy connection to Stanford btw.
I’d love to hear how everyone else is doing with college acceptances/interests!

Ehh mine’s going ok as well. I got into UMich but I hear from the rest of my schools on April 1st. The wait is driving me crazy! I just want to know where I’m going to school haha

Hmm, no legacy. I’ve interviewed with Princeton, Harvard, Brown, and Dartmouth so far (in that order), and Dartmouth has definitely been the best interview… my interviewer was ridiculously nice, intelligent, and great fun - I enjoyed every second of my interview! TBH, I only applied there because they only required the common app (heh heh) but now I’m feeling differently.

I was so bummed when I was deferred from Stanford and would still really love to attend, but after learning about the other colleges that I applied to more in depth, I can now admit that it will not be the end of the world if I am rejected. The entire college application has been so humbling… everyone on CC is so incredibly intelligent and talented, and I am sure that all of us Stanford deferees will do well in life, whether or not we get accepted by Stanford in April. Best of luck to us all! :)

Have you all sent in the mid-year report?

I’m working on it still but I’m hoping to send it in by tomorrow night. Are you guys answering the questions directly or elaborating more into full paragraphs (essentially sending in new mini-essays) ??

since we’re deferred, do we need to create a SUnetid? the deferral email they sent us didnt tell us to…

Hey guys, I’m kind of late with joining this thread but I got deferred from Stanford EA as an international student. Are my chances of being accepted RD lower than for domestic pool and were many foreign students deferred and then accepted RD? Thanks!
