So my sister is a senior at william and mary, so i thought that would help, but i guess not, she got in regular.

oh and i'm out of state, i live in PA

so do i have a shot at RD?

semester grades will be important

Well...you've got a good profile, at least what you've presented, so regardless of your outcome you should be happy. Overall, I'd say that you're competitive with the overall ppol, but as an OOS female applicant, it will be tough. Chances are, things will come down to your essays and your letters, etc. Good luck!

if you are deferred, do you send in all new essays and rec letters? how exactly does it work?

im going to prob write another essay, like on my own, and maybe send one more rec but im not gonna go crazy and send like 20 different recs all of a sudden, i dont think they's like that but i'm really not sure

yeah thats a good idea, just let them know you still really want to go there..you'll be good then! i dont know why you might have gotten deferred though, does anyone have any ideas?

Even with an estimated 23 percent OOS acceptance rate, I can't believe she was deferred. She has great stats, ECs, etc.

I was deferred too (I posted my stats here before, if anyone's curious -- 2240, white, female, from PA). It's a bummer, but I'll keep showing interest somehow. shrugs

you got deferred with a 2240 how much do you hate being oos, it really sucks, im raising my kids in va it has the best state school

My daughter was accepted ED from out-of-state with stats very similiar to yours. I bet you have a good chance regular decision.

Good luck you should be very proud of all of your hard work.

what state was she from?

We live in Indiana.

alright that's where my cousins live, being in pa oos is even worse than just being oos, because william and mary had a large majority of their oos applications from pennsylvania, new jersey, and conneticut, i can't seem to catch a break

I think NY has a large number of applicants too, and that's going to make it hard for my daughter RD!

yeah im pretty sure new york is like way up there too, pretty much all of the oos kids from the northeast region, and then the rest are like scattered all over the us

I got deferred ED last year.

I eventually got in.

I know a lot of people who had the same situation. You definately have a chance. Send admissions a letter telling them what you've been up to since you sent in your ED application. I think doing that really helped me.

i called admissions and asked them why i was a deferred and they told me my sat scores werent high enough, i have a 1450 old score, 2160 new score, so im taking the sats again in jan, but i am going to write to another essay and send one more recommendation, when did you mail in your letter?

A couple weeks before RD applications were due. I'm surprised admissions told you why you were deferred. They're usually pretty reluctant to do that.

Don't worry. Your stats will probably be enough. Just make sure they know you're really interested.

like did you not like write your own like essays for like early decision?
maybe thats why you like got like deferred.

sorry for being an ass but ignorant people amuse me :-p
