Deferred from FSU priority deadline

I'm a senior and unfortunately, I was deferred from FSU's early action deadline. They said they want to see my first semester senior grades & are giving me a chance to re-take my SAT/ACT - they'll give me their final decision in March. I had an 1160 on the SAT (math: 550, reading: 610) & a composite score of 25 on the ACT (english: 27, math: 25, reading: 24, science: 23) and my high school weighted gpa is 3.74 (FSU recalculates & I'm not sure what my recalculated GPA is for them).
I've signed up to take both the ACT again in Feb. & I'm shooting for at least a 28 (that's what I need for a full Bright Futures scholarship) & my grades for my first semester will most likely be 5 A's and 2 B's.
What are my chances of getting in in March?
Is there anything else I can try and do to improve my chances??
FSU is my dream school & I really don't see myself going anywhere else! :(

I don’t know how you didn’t get in! How are your extracurriculars? What other things do you do in school? Other than that, I don’t see why you couldn’t get in… You’re test scores are FINE for FSU.

Just focus on finishing senior year strong! Strive to do better in all the aspects they said they wanted to see before they made their final decision. The deferred you, so all is not lost they must see the potential for you to be a great Nole. Good luck, don’t get senioritis, and I know you can do it! C/O 2011 it’s our time now! Yay!

How many AP courses did you take?

Retake the SAT and the ACT after preparation and try for Summer admission. Work as hard as possible on your GPA. Contact Admissions and personally express your desire to attend Florida State.

If this does not work, consider attending TCC and transferring.

What is your UW GPA? That’s probably why you were deferred. 50% of admitted students had a 3.75GPA or higher last year. An upward trend in grades might make a real difference.

I’ve taken 6 ap’s

And thanks, that’s what I plan on doing now

My un-weighted is 3.3, but FSU recalculates, only using core classes

Yeah, I think your GPA could’ve been the reason. Which test have you decided to retake? (SAT or ACT?)
