Deferred from Monmouth University

It was my first choice, as far as colleges goes and when I received the letter saying I was deferred to regular application it tore my heart, made me feeling like I wasn't good enough. I'm trying to keep hope but I don't know what to do. Any advice or words of wisdom?

Here's some facts on me:
Sr. in HS
cumulative gpa of 3.3
Currently interning a bank part time
(Monmouth isn't aware of this because I started after I sent my app.)
Sat Math 400 (top score. really weak in math.) and 510 in Critical Reading.

Here's what Monmouth is looking for, according to collegeboard:
SAT Critical Reading: 490 - 570 96%
SAT Math: 500 - 580 96%
Admission Policies and Factors
Am I on track?
* Required: SAT Reasoning Test or ACT
* If submitting ACT, the writing section is required

Very important admission factors:

* Extracurricular Activities
* Rigor of secondary school record
* Standardized Test Scores
* Volunteer Work
* Work Experience
* Academic GPA

Considered:

* Alumni Relation
* Class Rank
* Application Essay
* Interview
* Recommendations

What I'm thinking of doing:
Writing a Personal Statement although they don't require one.
Resubmitting my transcript after the second marking period, and retaking the SAT's.

I really don't want to retake the SAT's because I've taken them three times, but its too late for the subject test. Should I retake it, or take the chance and not do so?

My dad went to Monmouth. He went on to Harvard business school and is now a
multimillionaire. So monmouth can be a springboard to great things, it's a nice school. Take the SAT again or try the ACT. buy some practice books. change your mentality, tell yourself "I'm great at math and I'm going to prove it." Get a better score, send it in to the college.

I would definetly write the personal statement and resubmit your transcript. Also add that your are interning at the bank and any other clubs, activities and awards that you may have received after you sent in your app. I recently read a tread on one of the forums where 2 people had excellent ideas about how to improve your deferreal chances. The first person mentioned about showing interest and having your guidance counselor call the school and find out what you could do to improve your chances. At the very least it shows that you are very interested in attending. Another person mentioned about getting another recommendation and sending it in. I thought they were both really good ideas. Best of luck!
