I know it’s my tests scores that are holding me back, but I have taken the SAT five times, and I am not taking it again. Is there any chance of me getting in with low test scores but good everything else?

I was deferred during EA1 as well. I applied for engineering with a 4.52 and 3.72 and 1630 SAT. Very low scores for engineering and I called to find out the weaknesses of my application and they told me it was my test scores as well. I retook it for the 4th time and did much better finally but still below average for state. I changed my first choice major to FYC instead of engineering so hopefully that helped my chances.

You are very strong academically but Chemistry is a very tough major to get accepted into! Hopefully once everything settles down with the regular applicants us deferrals can get accepted with them overlooking something as small as a low test score! I feel like they put a lot of emphasis on test scores the first time around to wait and see if they can accept more competitive students than us deferrals. The website says they focus mainly on academics for deferrals but hopefully it will be a more holistic approach.

The notification date is coming up soon, I’m expecting next Friday the 28th since March 30th is on a sunday. They released EA1 decisions a few days early and on a Friday as well. Way too nervous and anxious!

What is your backup school?

A bunch of kids from his school applied (maybe 20 or so) all deferred except one. And the one that was accepted had the lowest grades! They can’t figure it out…

Do your portals now say pending?

@eyemamom mine still says deferred. I’ve read on past forums that the message remained as deferred but people clicked on the link to the online deferral letter and that letter had a new date and new decision. So keep checking the letter link!

Well now it says deferred again. I wish I had checked the letter when I saw that. I’m guessing they’re uploading the decisions now.

@eyemamom yeah next Friday will probably be the day we find out

Applied to college of engineering with a 4.52 W and 3.72 UW. 1630 SAT 1110 CR + M. Retook it and made 1680 superscore, (1160 CR+M). I changed my first choice major to First Year College and that’s what I was accepted to, but I plan to try to matriculate into the college of Engineering after my first year.
