Deferred From NC State

what are my chances of getting in from out-of-state for engineering? (slim I think)

GPA: 3.06
Senior Year GPA: 3.33
ACT: 34 (English 35, Math 35, Science 32, Reading 34)
Class Rank: (didn't send to NC State: 140/280)
SAT: 2010 (Math: 780, Critical Reading: 650, Writing: 580)

Thanks!

I think you applied to same schools as me. I haven't gotten a response yet and I'm from new york

pierre, is your gpa weighted? Have you received any grades since you applied that you could send to NCSU to show an upward trend in grades? Your SAT and ACT are great.
In NC, students class rank is reported on transcripts. Are you sure yours was not sent?

Your excellent math scores give you a shot but since engineering is such a tough major, I'm afraid they might think your gpa may indicates a lack of dedication. Maybe you could write a letter explaining a reason for your low gpa (in comparison to your SAT).

Engineering and Design are the hardest admits at NCSU. You prob. would have been accepted under another major. Don't give up. You may still be accepted.

well for the past 3 years my grades have been at a B average but through the first semester this year, my grades are at a B+/A- average so that could show some improvement?

My guidance counselor advised me not to send my class rank since I go to a top 100 public high school and it's very competitive so B students like me are ranked in the 50th percentile or lower so that might not play in my favor.

My GPA above is unweighted (3.06) and is through junior year only. My weighted GPA through junior year is a 3.88

If you have first semester grades that show improvement, I would def. send them.
Have you taken/done well on any AP exams? Perhaps sending those might help as well.
