Hi, I'm a white male from southern Virginia, Danville specifically. I was wondering if someone could tell me what my chances are of getting accepted to The University of Virginia now that I have been deferred from early action to regular decision?

I have a weighted GPA of 4.05 (my school only weighs AP classes at 5, other advanced classes are given a weight of 4.5). I am in the top 10% of my class.

AP US History score of 5, will be taking an AP Micro/Macro, Government exam this semester
Three highest SAT scores were 590 math, 710 reading, 560 writing
I will be taking an SAT subject test tomorrow, i'm hoping for an 800 as I typically perform very well in history related subjects.

I attend the Piedmont Governor's School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology which is an elite program offered to the top students from all the schools in my area. Through this I have almost obtained the credits needed for an associate's degree in science, but due to my job I won't able to grab the last two classes I would need to have sufficient credits.

I had 100+ hours of community service throughout my high school career, a member of a decent amount of clubs and a member of the academic quiz bowl teams of both of the schools I attended during high school.

I started my own successful computer repair business, which I have maintained throughout my junior/senior years of high school (even while working as a chef in a restaurant for a brief period).

My main worry is that since your first semester grades are heavily considered in selecting new students, I'll just be outright declined. I had a 4.2 weighted gpa for my first semester, but that's with a C in the calculus class I take at the governor's school I previously mentioned. I tried extremely hard in the class, but I was forced to switch high schools this year due to some family issues and that combined with a job and the work I do on the family farm ended up breaking me as I was unable to get the grade I needed on the first semester final to get a B for the semester. This has been my only C throughout high school and I don't want it to seem like I chose to slack off in high school, as I've been working extremely hard to maintain good grades during my senior year.

Will that C in Calculus be my downfall in trying to get into UVA? I'm applying with a preferred major choice in Computer Science by the way.

Also, I plan on sending in a letter of my continued interest to the admissions office expressing my deep desire to attend UVA. Is this a mistake? I don't want to make them have an additional reason to decline me as I've always really wanted to go to UVA - and I mean I really, really, realllllly want to go to UVA.
