Deferred help?

I applied to UCF in the third week of September, and they received all my info by October 5th, with the exception of my most recent SAT scores (I've tested twice) which they received a few weeks ago. I checked my application status today and it said that after an initial review, it is currently deferred for further evaluation by the Admissions Committee.

My stats:
Class Ranking: 297 out of 645
Cumulative GPA: 2.9535
Academic Core GPA: 2.7407
Weighted Cumul. GPA: 3.5465
SAT (Highest Scores) Total: 1860
CRITICAL READING: 630
MATH: 550
WRITING: 680
ACT (Highest Composite Scores) Composite: 24
ENGLISH: 28
MATH: 18
READING: 26
SCIENCE REASONING: 24

I'm in mostly honors classes, I have played the baritone for seven years, been in my high school's nationally ranked marching band for four years, and I'm principle first chair. I'm in the Music Honors Society, jazz band, and concert band. I have been a Girl Scout for 11 years, and as of this year I have been a staff writer for my school's newspaper. I have ADD/ADHD as well, and medical issues that make my academic achievements remarkable. I took one AP class last year (and passed) and I am currently taking one this year as well. I have 99 service hours right now, but I have another 100 hours to turn in this week.

So far I have been accepted to FGCU and FAU.

Do you think I'll be accepted???? Any advice? UCF is my dream school.

I’m in the same boat as you are:

My stats:
Class Ranking: 263 out of 522
Cumulative GPA (UW): 2.919
Cumulative GPA (W): 3.405
SAT (Highest Scores) Total: 1770
CRITICAL READING: 640
MATH: 520
WRITING: 610
ACT (Highest Composite Scores) Composite: 25
ENGLISH: 27
MATH: 20
READING: 31
SCIENCE REASONING: 23

I also have many ECs, including mission trips out of the country. I’ve been accepted into FAU, FIU, and UNF.

After being deferred, I called UCF, and they told me that I should send in my grades from this semester when it ends, and retake the SAT or ACT if you want to be more competitive (though my scores are lower than yours). If you get good grades this semester, I think it’ll really help. Us 2.9s seem to always end up on the borderline of acceptance.

I really hope you get in!

Good luck!

Your test score is within range but I think the reason you got deferred is because of your grades. If you made big improvements this year, send in your senior grades for the first semester

Hello. I am currently a freshman at UCF.

I was deferred for Fall 2013
ACT: 25
GPA: 3.4

I am out of state and was told only 5% of out of state students are accepted. I kept in contact with the school and sent an email to UCF Trustee Ray Gilley. I explained my life history, major projects I have worked on, and that I was hoping to attend UCF. He replied and he forwarded my email to the Chief of Staff at UCF. Within ten minutes of that email being received, I was accepted. I would encourage people to reach out. Don’t beg or whine to get in, just explain who you are and why you want to attend.

I then received an out of state tuition waiver three weeks into the semester but do not know if it was connected to the email I sent.

It can happen!
