Deferred! Help!!

i guess the 3.8 gpa balances the 1040 SAT? lol i don't know.. i remember UF emphasizing SAT does not make up a large percentage of the application. they looks at applications holistically. maybe the one who got accepted had a better essay.

lol I don't buy any college who says the SAT does not make up a large percentage of the application.

Is the competition in RDII usually hard? I'm getting really nervous. D:

I'm one of your competitors. here are m stats:

GPA: 3.85 UF GPA
SATs: ABOVE AVG, BUT NOT 1280
HOURS: 200+(good explanation)
President of cancer awareness club( I founded it this year)

so heres the scoop. last year, in the midst of junior year, i was diagnosed with cancer. for six months, i was doing school over the phone and achieved a 4.0 and then i went back to school in end of january while i was starting radiation therapy. i achieved a 4.0 for my whole junior year, and a 4.5 HPA. I had to drop all my AP anh Honor level courses for junior year, though I was abe to resume my Honors when I returned to school in late January. I feel my SATs don't reflect on my academic record.

I am really active in my community, though 11th grade was a blunder, so I'm lacking the 500+ level, but this year I already have volunteered at nursing home, shaved my head for St. Baldrick's Day, and volunteered at a fashion show. Next week, I am doing two more walk-athons. The Juvenile Diabetes walk and the Relay For Life where I will be honoured for being a survivor. I have been "pressuring" UF as you say, LOL. I've sent them numerous doctor letters and work, guidance counselor recs., and numerous essays.

I think the competition for RDII is pretty fierce since it is the last chance for people to get in, and of course everyone, even the top students apply for Early Decision, because UF has built a prestigious headline for themselves and as the years go by, I imagine it to become an Ivy league school.

Good luck everyone!

Not so. I only had about 75+ community service hours and I only participated as a member in Key Club. I held no positions at all. I believe my GPA and my essay did it for me. But it could also be the outreach program I attended lol.

Good luck, BruinsJEW. I hope we both get in!

Does anyone know how UF is with deferred applications, as far as the number of people who were deferred and were later accepted?

i have a secret for all you guys...

this is what UF does in their admission's process:
1. Print strips of paper with the social security numbers of all applicants with a 3.5 UF GPA and up.
2. Wallpaper paste each strip on every wall in a living room.
3. Drink an insane amount of alcohol and proceed to dip hands in one of two colors of paint (blue and orange obviously).
4. Run wildly throughout the room.
5. All social security numbers with blue on them are accepted, orange means deferred.

I mean, why else would students that are ranked among the best in their class get denied but the junkie in the general classes get in?
So people, don't worry about not getting in, your top tier college that you would have chosen over UF anyways will love you more.

Haha, this is by no means bitter, (I haven't gotten my decision yet but already got into Emory and plan on going) I realized this from my peer's erratic decisions and then realized their true admission's process.

Aghh, I have butterflies.

What if I get denied? Is there a way I can ask to be put into the summer term or do they have to offer it to you?

But then what if I'm accepted? I'll be sure to post the results here ASAP.

Only 5.5 more hours.. D:

i second that

I got in, everyone!! Thank you for your responses!
