Yup...so I just got the letter in the mail, and I've been deferred. I'm mad because I really hate waiting!... but it also feels good to know I wasn't rejected. Does anyone think I have a chance of being accepted after sending in my 7th semester transcript? Are many students accepted after being deferred? Any suggestions? Be honest and keep in mind this my dream school. Thanks guys.

damn man, that sucks. i think it’s cause of your act that you got deferred. but your 7th semester grades look great, so you have a pretty good shot. good luck man!

If you can retake the ACT that could really help you. Since you already have good grades I don’t think getting all A’s 7th semester would do that much for you unless you have a big increase of rigor. They deferred you because of your low ACT, so if you can get that up or try the SAT, you should have a good shot.

thanks guys. but yeah i think i might try taking the act one more time in feb. i took it twice and got a 25 both times. a girl from my school got accepted with a 24 and another one with almost the same exact stats as me also got accepted. just my luck :/

Your GPA looks good, ACT definitely needs to go up.
Remember, since you were deferred, you now competing with others who are also deferred and the rolling decision applicants.
Your GPA, from what i’ve seen with other deferred individuals, is much higher…however, you have a lower amount of AP courses…but you cannot change that not…frankly getting all A’s seventh semester wont really increase your chances of acceptance. Rolling decision applicants can be pretty unpredictable tho so work on your ACT!

Maybe try the SAT if it’s the math/science portion keeping your act grade down. By the fact that you’re taking AP Lit, you may fare better on the SAT.

I just registered for the January SAT and am gonna give it a try. Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully I hear good news before mid-April. One more question, if I do get accepted, is it going to be harder for me to find a dorm, etc.?
