deferred in ed from wharton

sat scores are 1520 and math level 2 is 800/800 and in toefl 112 what are the chances now in regular decision in wharton please reply me

According to the website Penn ended up admitting 171 people out of all the people it deferred during ED. However, I am not sure around how many people get deferred from ED each year at Penn so can’t give you a percentage or anything.

but how are the scores are they up to the mark

Your scores are competitive. Penn has an SAT average of 1500 and your math II score, which Wharton specifically values a lot, is obviously perfect.

That said, you have to think of other potential places to apply to, since RD at Penn is a crapshoot.

since RD at Penn is a crapshoot. i didnt get can you elaborate please it can be very help ful to me thanks

Around (11% to 14% ) from the deferral pool finally get in. This still at least doubles the acceptance rate of general RD.

Being deferred from Wharton shows that you are a strong candidate. You are still very likely to get in other top schools. You may focus on your RD applications… In the meantime, send your updated transcripts, and other major achievements to Wharton.

Scores are not very important once you reach a threshold. Your EC, recommendations, characters and others are more important. You can check ED results thread. Many accepted students do not have high scores. and many with very high scores are rejected.

Again, like the other guy says, American Universities are weird in that scores don’t matter as much as they do internationally.

Because many colleges know that scores are more of a predictor of family wealth and ability to memorize and study than of future success, they have been mattering less and less. Nowadays, many kids apply with 1400s to ivies and get in because of cool extracurriculars. They either win national debate awards, conduct research in labs, or obtain tough internships at political think tanks. Things like this are much more likely to get you into Wharton than a simple sat score. Next, your recommendations matter.

They don’t want a perfect score student who is a rude person that never contributes to the campus at Upenn. In general they are looking to create a class of fun people who have interesting personalities - not study hard types that will never think outside the box. The only way to show this characteristic is by presenting a personality through the rec letters. I know many high scorers that get rejected by their dream schools.

I am sure that you being an international also dropped your chances. Also, you never mentioned your gpa.

To understand why Upenn cares about subjective things instead of objective things like sat scores and gpa, one needs to understand the motives behind acceptances. Wharton wants game changers, They want smart kids who will become big bosses, CEOs, and presidents. They don’t want employees - they want employers. This ensures that they can keep gaining recognition and fame. Upenn is successful. They know the traits of leaders - fun, smart, passionate, determined. Your SAT score alone will not reveal any of these things - that is for your essays, extracurriculars (ecs), and recommendation letters to do.

Good Luck!
