I had 2000
reading 590
math 700
writing 710

i think i can improve my reading and math score if i really really work hard. what do you guys think of retaking January sat? many of my friends don't think this is a good idea but im desperate to get into northeastern pharm program and i thought this would be good way to improve my stat? im also thinking about doing more volunteer work and other ec too

i would really appreciate your advice :) thank you

I would take it. I was also deferred (from Duke). You need to do ANYTHING you can to improve your application.

I believe the CR part is much more important than the writing section, so I would put all my effort on that. If you can get your reading score up to 650 or better, your chances should improve considerably.

I don’t think an SAT Score of 2000 would have qualified for deferral. What are your other stats. GPA? Course-load? ECs?

@Fermat25

You are absolutely right, but getting the CR score up may be enough to compensate for any other borderline areas.

@fermat25

I have weighted gpa of about 3.9
Took 2 ap courses and 1 college credit course in junior year
And currently taking 3 ap courses and 1 college credit course
Ive never taken regular classes all honors
Doubled up in sciencen last year ( ap bio , physics)
and doubled up history this year ( humanity, ap gov)

Have about 100 hrs of volunteering
And joined about 4-5 clubs at school but i never held office position
My ec is really weak

I think my ec and low math gpa and Reding score affected my chance :*(

Keep in mind, people, that the pharm program is pretty much the most competitive program in the school. A 590 CR score is definitely something that could get you’d deferred. Weighted GPA of 3.9 is also kind of low.

People who are amazing get rejected from the pharm program. It’s a tough program.

Just retake it (I have no idea why people are telling you not to- they are stupid, don’t listen to them, it’s not like it’ll hurt) and study insanely hard to bring up your CR score. Your math is already good, although study for that too if you have time. Then when you get your scores, send at e-mail to admissions renewing your interest and mentioning how your SAT scores went up.

@neuchimie
thank you for honest answer!
i didnt know my stat was that weak because people in my school with lower sat and gpa got accepted to its pharm program :*(
i guess i really really need to study now! thanks :)
