Deferred later accepted to Wharton?

Is there anyone out there who was originally deferred and then later accepted to Wharton? I just want to know what your resume/grades/scores/etc looked like, why you got deferred, and what you did (or did not do) to get accepted during the RD cycle?

Let me know, thanks!

BUMP for a good cause c;

The deferred student acceptance rate is very low. Wharton is around 8-9% overall so probably at least that low for deferred students.

I was deferred to Wharton last year. I was valedictorian (4.0 unweighted GPA) at one of the best public high schools in New York (top 5). My SATs were a 2260 - 780 writing, 760 math, 720 reading. I took 12 APs over the course of my high school career - 2 sophomore year (both 5’s) and 4 junior year (all 5’s). My activities resume was extensive: president of model congress, secretaryof this and that. I interned at a real estate firm one summer. I was deferred, I think, because I did not show enough interest in business. My guidance counselor spoke to the admissions rep and that is what he or she mentioned. So, I sent a letter early January explaining my passion for business. I was then accepted-I was shocked-regular decision. Good luck!

5 years ago my sister applied ED to Huntsman+Wharton. She got deferred for both and ended up getting into Wharton RD. She retook the french subject test, going from a 740 to an 800. Also her grades from first semester may have helped. She also visited Penn again and spoke with some admissions person, and her guidance counselor wrote another letter to Penn admissions.

good luck!
