<p>This DOES NOT mean you are deferred. It happens to almost everyone that applies. It just means that they have begun reviewing your application. Don't worry.</p>

<p>It happened to me too, so I looked it up.</p>
<p>According to the UIUC website</p>
<p>"Deferred - Manual Review Req" means that "Special circumstances are present (e.g., transfer coursework, Business applicants, no high school rank provided)."</p>
<p>For me, it's the "high school rank" b/c my high school only provides decile.</p>
<p>AHHH! I just got that message, too =). Freaked me out at first! HAHA! I already got deferred from Stanford, I don't need another one ;D</p>
<p>I got the same message. I guess it's because my school doesn't have class rank.
The odd thing is my friend who applied two days before me got in on Thursday without seeing the Defered message.</p>

<p>UIUC recieved all my paper work the 29th of Nov. and I too have the "manual review req." They sent me an e-mail saying I'll recieve a decision until mid January to early February. Since the holidays are just around the corner hopefully I'll get a positive response as a present. I'll pray for you "deferred" people.</p>
<p>Well, I just called ISU(Illinois State) and said that they couldn't admit me at this time. So UIUC and UIC are outa the question. I hope you'll be accepted so you don't have to feel the pain I'm feeling right now.</p>
