Through letter, I've just been notified today that I'm deferred for a final decision, which will be made no later than mid-April. It's very unfortunate that I have to go through this process of deferment but, oh well, I guess I'll try my best to prove that I'm a strong applicant.

In order to show strong interest in UMich and, hopefully, enhance my status in the deferred pool, what are some things that I should or must do to be accepted? Will it be appropriate for me to send in another letter of recommendation and updated resume? How about writing another essay? Fyi, I already requested my guidance counselor to send the midyear report a month ago, which I believe Umich has now received.

Lastly, how many deferred students get accepted to Umich?

I'll need as much advice as you can give it to me. Thanks.

every year i hear a number of deferred students are admitted. people in the past have told me that its good to send in a letter expressing interest, send another rec or updated resume. anything u want them to know about that they dont already know from ur app.

i know bunches of people who got in after deferral.. my sister did last year.. she was deferred in NOV and accepted in DEC.. a couple friends this year..

Also, if I want to request my different teacher for another recommendation letter, do I need to print out the recommendation letter report from Umich site? Or just have my teacher mail the letter?

the above posters are wrong...few students get accepted to Michigan after they are deferred. its not like privates where if you get deferred, you still have a good shot at getting in. i would definitely do everything to express interest though.
