For all those who got deferred, are ya'll planning on sending any other stuff to Yale that might raise your chances for RD round? And if so, what would be good to send?

I'm not sure much it would help or if it would help at all. I'm considering writing a letter to Yale or something, but I don't know if that's such a good idea. ^^;

i dont think you can do anything very meaningful in a month or so-like cure cancer or AIDS -or show that your dedicated (the one month deal) but one month can make a difference if your application is great but your SAT/ACT scores are low, you can try writing your essays again
but for me I'm putting more focus into my other apps (cooper union)
sometimes it's not even you-your probably great and awesome-
so really keep in mind an openness for other colleges that are just as great

P.S. writing a letter sounds like they made a wrong choice (which they did) but then you just sound vengeful, spiteful, bitter -not an aftertaste you want yale to have if you still want them to consider you as an applicant

I'm sending in a supplemental singing recording...maybe. Right now I'm just trying to think about what I did wrong...which is probably nothing. It just wasn't my time, I guess.

well, I hope to improve my ACT scores as I think with a 24 I can be more than happy not to have been rejected at once.
maybe a better score will help..... and I'm thinking of internships, volunteer sutff, I would need more awards but I don't know how to get them that fast.... I think some time next week I will post my profile and ask someone to chance me, and tell me what is missing in my application, what I could add.
we could all do that, post our profiles and tell the other what we think is missing in his application....?

wait so how does the process work? say i wanna rewrite an essay or tell them that i gained a leadership role in an activity. how can i go about doing that?

I think with a new activity or award you can just send in a letter,.... but I would check with them before you do. I'm not sure if you can acctually CHANGE something in your appc, only add something.... well I thought.
Or you could ask your counselor to add it in your midyear report, if it's a new activity.

I'm going to send them some supplemental information that I never got to send to Yale because the deadline was in November and I did all this stuff in mid and late-November.

I would wait until mid-February and then send a letter (brief) indicating your continued interest and attaching a page with any meaningful activities, awards, etc. that happened since you submitted your application. Keep it brief and positive.

Good luck & start focusing on all of the other possibilities you may have.

Me neither. In fact, I hated you, Yale, and didn't care whatsoever about the outcome of my application (deferral.)
....
Who am I kidding? IT HURT.
But at least I had started looking at other schools, working on their essays, etc. in case this happened. So if Yale doesn't want me in April, I'll have other options.

I am now considering calling Yale admissions office to find out the reason behind my deferral and what I can do to improve my chances. Is this a good idea? ... and if so, is the number to call that one that's in the upper right hand corner of our little blue sheet? (the one the has our eli account info)

or would I just seem desperate and nosy? ^^''

If you are deferred, it doesn't hurt to send a followup to the admissions office, indicating that you are still very interested in Yale and updating them about something new that you've gotten involved in, or an award you received--obviously if there is really something new to add. Make it short and to the point. I doubt that you can write a new essay--your application is what you submitted earlier. And, while it is only human to want to know why you were deferred, they won't tell you. What they would likely say is that they had a ton of very qualified candidates and couldn't accept everyone. If you send a letter, send it to the admissions rep for your region.

I really don't have anything to send as supplement that would significantly benefit my app, but I think I will send them a letter or something in maybe a few weeks to show that I'm still interested. Maybe I'll elaborate on why yale's my first choice (I'll try not to make it very long, but it'll definitely say more than that 2 sentence blurb on my app xD).

I know it'll be unlikely .. but I'll ask the admissions office if they accept revised essays .. just in case. You never know =P But if they don't, that's ok too.
