I was really banking on going to UCF, but now I feel a lot worse because I got deferred. The online status says that I am deferred until I send in my semester grades. I called the admissions office and someone very hard to understand spoke with me and said that the counselors were busy and would give me a return call. I am just kinda freaking out right now because I got deferred. What does this mean for my chances of getting in?
I have a 3.5 weighted GPA and got a 28 on the ACT.

28 ACT is excellent! IDK why you’d be deferred…did you take rigorous courses in high school?

What was your unweighted? It’s your GPA because your ACT score is solid. Just do well this semester and send in the grades once it’s released and you should be fine. Don’t fret over it- many kids get deferred. Don’t screw up this semester though.

Yes. I have taken 6 AP courses and the rest were honors courses. I will admit I have done bad in a few classes(Gemoetry honors and bio honors for example), but I thought my GPA and ACT score would be solid enough. Right now I have 5 As and one B(The B is in AP Macroeconomics, go figure)

Keep up your grades the way they are. You don’t need straight A’s, just keep it A’s and B’s. You should be fine, don’t even worry about it. Seriously.

at the end of the semester, should I just send off my transcript again?

Yes, at the end of the semester send your transcript to UCF. I am betting you will get your acceptance within 72 hours of its receipt. You are doing well in difficult classes. You will get your acceptance in January. Don’t worry, you will be fine.

Did you apply fall or summer?

I applied for fall 2011

Hmm…did you have any letters of reccomendation? How many and what are your ec’s?

For those that got deferred or have lower stats, don’t sit around and join a bunch of clubs or try to get letters of recommendations thinking it will automatically boost your chances drastically. The best thing to do is trying to improve your scores or GPA. It’s what UCF wants, so give them what they want.

does UCF even want letters of recommendation? I never heard anything about it for UCF. My grades are fine and I’ve done some EC with my school’s computer department and foreign language department, so I don’t think that is much of an issue. I will probably have all As on my semester grades though, so hopefully all is good(even though I’m only taking 3 classes)

I got deferred until they receive my 1st semester grades
im out of state: 1170/1600 1680/2400
my gpa uw: 86.69
weighted: 88.69

This first quarter my gpa uw: 89.2
weighted: 90.7
If I keep that gpa up I think I’ll get accepted hopefully!

since my grades approved the first quarter do you think theres a chance that they’ll accept me without seeing my second quarter grades
