Stanford rejected so many people in the early rounds so you should be thankful you got deferred, it just means that the most selective school in the country is so interested into you that they are willing to read your application again in the Spring. A friend of mine got deferred from Stanford last year but got in during regular decision.

What you should do is show the admission office that Stanford is your #1 choice and why you belong there. Whether it is high scores, better scores, or another essay, show them that you belong there. Have your CG call them and ask what part of the application you were missing.

thanks for the advice

Not really advice, more encouragement. Yes, Stanford is tough to get into, but it’s freaking tough just to get deferred: you’re easily in the top 20% of their applicants. It may not sound great, but it means you are right in the thick of the admissions arena: you are a great student! Yes, it hurts to get deferred, but in the grand crapshoot that is college admissions, you are one of the best. Yes, it’s ok to be disappointed, but there is absolutely no need to feel unworthy, or to start aiming lower because of this. Regardless of Stanford’s final decision, you are going places, and that’s no exaggeration.

I agree with ivyhopes12, you are going places. also your goal of being accepted into your dream school may not have worked out like you planned but just having that goal I’m sure propelled your thru years of schooling and served a greater purpose. You will be great wherever you end up. Good Luck to you.

Ivyhopes12 thanks so much for your encouragement!!! that was the nicest post ever!
