I thought if you were deferred, they can notify you before the regular decisions come out.

But i got an e-mail that my decision would come out on the 31st.

Hmmmm so i guess i'll just have to wait?

Did any deferred people get in already? Or did you guys all get that e-mail saying that it would come out on the 31st?

You find out at the same time as everyone else.

do you think deferees have a better chance of getting in?

I was deferred as well - we all find out the 31st.

calihege - I don’t know if I would say “a better chance” but I do know that the fact that you applied ED shows your commitment - and they take that into account. Just as these schools contest for the lowest acceptance rate, they too are looking for the highest yield. A deferred candidate represents an applicant with a higher chance of attendance because Columbia knows they are (or were) their first choice.

I also know an admissions officer at Columbia who told me that the deferred applicants are reviewed last to give them time to update their files - just so you have an idea at how they view the whole picture.

Is our notification going to come via email, or can we just log into our accounts to see if we got in?

thanks rach! did anyone besides me get deferred from SEAS?

I got deferred from SEAS
