MY RECS are excellent
My essay is actually amazing, surprisingly

i applied EA to CSOM. i know its a reach. I have been emailing Jeff Gallant, head of NJ admissions . Also, i met him once. THEN- i saw him again and he remembered my name .

I will be in full contact with him for the next few months. I will also send a few more accomplishments to BC during this time

Early action is so competitive. How bout my chances for RD?

Wow - all you are missing is a Nobel Peace Prize! Seriously, the only reasons that I can visualize that you diidn’t get in is that they had a huge increase of applicants and they simply didn’t finish. Alternatively, the randomness theory reported elsewhere that sometimes applicants are deferred that would be excellent because they are looking for specific things (maybe they need snowboarders?)

I am just curious - what is the first letter of your last name? Our DD got deferred at 3 schools this round, all of which reported by letter that they had about 25% more applications. We wonder if they even got to the “Vs” before quitting. They are only human afterall… how can the same staff finish 25% more applications in such a short time?

Did BC tell you whether they had an increase? Santa Clara University, Northeastern, and Boston University all reported by letter and/or by newsreports huge increases…

Last name starts with D

I’m not sure if you will get in or not, but the only weaknesses in your application that I can really see are your test scores, GPA, and coursework/AP history.

While you may or may not ultimately get in, the school is telling you that you are not their first choice. Act accordingly.

Look over your list of other schools and come up with a priority. BC should be rank last as there is little additional you can do except send your fall grades and maybe contact them to express your continued interest in their school.

Otherwise put your efforts into the next two schools on your list. Make sure they know that you really want to go to their school (even though you applied regular decision) and that you would matriculate if you got in.

Good luck.

any one else?

I think your GPA could’ve been a bit higher and your ACT scores could use some improvement. rads4cure made an excellent point - you may or may not get into this school, so don’t put all your hopes into getting in only to receive a rejection letter. You seem to overall have very good stats so I’d say you still have a good chance of getting in, but make sure the apps to your other schools are exceptional.

I noticed the statistics in the new deferral article onCC - BCdenied 1200 and deferred2300. Interesting to compare the statistics of other colleges…

[Some Checklists for Those Applying, or Already Decided - NYTimes.com](<a href=“Some Checklists for Those Applying, or Already Decided - The New York Times”>Some Checklists for Those Applying, or Already Decided - The New York Times)

JonLouis, don’t be too discouraged by the deferral. I do agree with others that you should be putting a lot of effort into your apps for other schools, but I certainly wouldn’t give up all hope for BC just yet. Remember that the EA round at BC is more competitive than the RD round, because BC deliberately caps the number of acceptances in the EA round. The official policy is to pick no more than 30% of the class early, and because of that, BC can’t possibly take everyone they might want in Dec.

Your stats, while not at the top of the applicant pool, are well within range for BC, so you do have a reasonable chance of admission. I hope the RD round brings you good news!

graciasssss

Any1 else? feel free to provide a percentage
