If you get deferred from ED, you’re no longer bound to attend if accepted, right? Because I’m no longer sure 100% that Brown is my top choice.

Yeah, this is one of the few things I know about Brown from my counselor lol. My friend applied ED, was deferred, so she re-applied for the regular deadline. It is a completely different application, once rejected from ED, binding is no longer an option.

...re-applied? I thought your application automatically moves on to RD if you're deferred.

It does. After being deferred it's reevaluated in RD round, unless you withdraw your application.

Thanks. My main question, though, is am I still bound to attend if they accept me?

mllgr- no, I'm pretty sure you're not. I was deferred too; Brown's still my first choice though, so I'll probably attend if I get in. (BIG if.)

Nope, your not bound to Brown anymore. It's just like RD now. If you don't mind me asking, what is your top choice now?

Cool. Philosophia: Extremely tentatively, Rice. Though I'm really not sure what my top choice is at all. I just don't like the idea of being bound anymore.

It's not a different application for regular vs. early, and nobody should have to reapply.

once deferred, your ED application is, in effect, "converted" to an RD application.

You do not have to reapply, or do anything further, but you are free to send in supplementary materiel if you wish;

Since your app is now an RD app, and not an ED app, you are no longer bound by the ED agreement, and need not attend if admitted. You are, of course, free to apply to other schools - either RD or, in a few cases, EDII.
