Deferred - Supplement Materials?

Hi everyone.

I found out yesterday that I got deferred from Dartmouth ED (my stats are on the "results" page in case you wanted to check me out). Now that all the tears have been shed, I am trying to find out how to increase my chances.

I know that many people, after being deferred, send supplementary materials. They mentioned that in my deferral letter too. How is this done? Should I send a letter to the admissions office or email my regional admissions officer?

I also found out (today, actually), that I placed 1st in an International Piano Competition and will be performing at Carnegie Hall some time in January/February. Do you think this is worth mentioning at all?

Thanks for the help in advance! Dartmouth is still my #1 choice and I would REALLY like to go there ;D

Definitely sounds worth mentioning to me…did you send an arts supplement?

Yes I did. Didn’t help much, apparently… I’ll probably ask my guidance counselor on Monday what I should do - I just wanted to ask around if anyone had experience with this here.</p>

So in what form should I send this information?

I would definitely mention that, but not until they said to send updates (February I believe). I think an E-mail or fax would be sufficient. I wish I had something cool to send in an update!

I also sent an arts supplement for piano. I guess it didn’t help me much either. Maybe its not a unique enough instrument or something. Too bad I don’t play the oboe or harp…

yea… should have sent a bagpipes arts supplement or something.

haha yeah…in addition to a didgeridu supp
