Deferred to CAS

Does this mean I even have a snowball's chance in spring!? Or am I essentially rejected already!?

Best question: Is this what purgatory feels like?

Hate to be the one to say it, but your chances aren't great. Generally, CAS doesn't change their mind much about deferrals. CALS, ILR, Hotel, and HumEc are known for giving guaranteed transfer's to their deferee's when RD time comes around, but CAS doesn't give out too many of those either.

Fudge. I already was statistically a long shot for Cornell (1930 SAT, 93.5% average, top 11% of class) but I had aspects to my application that I thought made me a little more legitimate (two time athletic state silver medalist, recognized in a writing competition by the library of congress with a 1st place out of 1800 in state, hispanic, legacy, killer recommendations / interview, Cornell MVP, varsity team captain by sophmore year, 10 yrs piano, 8 yrs saxophone, two honor societies, newspaper internship, 2 jobs for 8 months, etc.).

Looks like I'm in for another deliciously stressful few months.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, you're not alone. Now is the time for self-reflection, to really think about the past four years of your life carefully and consider where your future lies. I think that with your amazing factors outside your GPA/rank/test score, you still have a shot at other top colleges. Don't give up, and keep at it!
